SECTION 2  – HBAS Community Service Summer Fellowships

HBAS is honored to participate in the Harvard Clubs Summer Community Service Fellowship (SCSF).

HBAS Fellows complete impactful summer projects furthering impact on the wider Black diaspora community beyond the gates of Harvard ranging from advocacy to research, urban development to  tech for good, and beyond.

In 2025, 9% of the Community Service Summer Fellows were supported by HBAS. All thanks to our alums, we are proud to continue to supporting college students embark on transformative work in the non-profit sector.

Student Organization Grants

HBAS supports official Harvard Black student organizations with micro-grants to uplift programming, leadership development, cultural events, and community-building.

Who is Eligible?

You must be:

  • A Harvard-affiliated student organization registered with your school (college or grad school)
  • A student group that primarily supports, serves, or uplifts Harvard students and expand plurailstic appreciation and knowledge of the global Black experience. 
     

What Do Grants Support?

  • Cultural or Professional Development events
  • Panels, workshops, leadership training
  • Conferences or school-wide initiatives
  • Arts, performance, or storytelling programs
  • Mental health and wellness programming
    Community service or public engagement projects
     

Grant Amounts

HBAS typically awards grants between $250–$1,000 depending on need and available funding.

Student Groups are required to submit a grant report at the end of their event.

Student Groups who have not submitted grant reports are not eligible to re-apply.

SECTION 3 — Black Grad

Black Grad: A Celebration of Legacy, Joy, and Excellence

HBAS proudly supports Black Grad, one of the most powerful and beloved celebrations at Harvard. Each year, students, families, and alumni gather to honor the incredible achievements of Black graduates across all Harvard schools.

Black Grad 2025 Recap

  • Over 2,000 College, Masters, JDs, and Doctoral graduates from Harvard College and all Harvard graduate and professional schools celebrated their achievements in the traditions of Black Grad.
  • Faculty, student leaders, and distinguished speakers and alums  took the stage
  • Our 2026 speakers spurred on the next generation of elite professionals and academics.
  • Alumni from all over the world came together to make Black Grad happen in a matter of weeks! The deepth and breadth of Harvard Black Alumni Support demonstrates the power of community.
  • Families and friends experienced an unforgettable celebration of excellence and community in-person with their graduates or online virtually.
